In what’s described by orthopedic surgeons as a breakthrough in medical technology, custom-fit knee replacement is now available at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center. Because no two knees are alike, this innovative procedure allows the surgeon to match the fit and placement of the implant especially for each patient.

Before surgery, an MRI takes precise measurements of the knee to determine the correct implant size and placement based on that patient’s normal knee alignment. Computer-matched custom surgical guides are then created for each individual, to ensure that the new knee is properly positioned.

 Such a customized approach enables surgeons to preserve more of the patient’s bone and ligaments, allowing for better implant fit and alignment and a more “natural” feeling knee.
