POTTSTOWN MEMORIAL MEDICAL CENTER ANNOUNCES NEW CEO
POTTSTOWN, PA (August, 2011) Pottstown Memorial Medical Center has announced that Sharif Omar has been appointed chief executive officer, effective immediately. Omar joined the hospital as chief operating officer in 2009 and has been serving as interim CEO since March.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to lead the dedicated employees and medical staff at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center. I am proud of their commitment to provide high-quality healthcare for our community and look forward to the future here,” said Omar.
Omar brings 11 years of administrative management experience to his new role. Prior to joining Pottstown Memorial Medical Center, Omar held administrative roles at various healthcare facilities including Tulane University Hospital & Clinic and Southwest Medical Center and served as Senior Vice President of Medical Partners International.
“Sharif is a bright, well-educated and seasoned healthcare administrator,” said Richard Whittaker, M.D., chairman of the Pottstown Memorial Medical Center Board of Trustees. “He brings an excellent balance of professional expertise and interpersonal skill to the CEO position, and I am certain he will help us to further strengthen Pottstown Memorial for long-term growth and service in our community.”
Omar belongs to the American College of Healthcare Executives and is a Development Dimensions International Facilitator. He earned his undergraduate at Louisiana State University, Shreveport, La.; and a Masters in Health Administration from Tulane University. He and his wife Nassima currently live in Glenmoore, PA.
