After thirteen years of civic duty, Howard Kalis, Esq., Chairman, Pottstown Memorial Medical Center (PMMC) Board of Trustees has stepped down. A farewell party was held in his honor on Wednesday, November 28th at PMMC where he was thanked by PMMC administration, staff, physicians as well as past board members and presented with a commemorative gift for his years of dedicated service. Mr. Kalis joined the PMMC Board of Directors in June of 1994, where he held various positions including Chairman, Medical Committee of the Board from 1998-2001; Chairman, Board of Directors, 2001-June 2003; and Chairman, Joint Conference Committee, 2002-2003.

He was also a member of the Pottstown Health Care (PHC) Corporation Board of Directors from 1998-2003, PHC Executive Committee of the Board from 1998-2003, as well as a member of the Pottstown Family Care/Coventry Family Care Board of Directors from 2001-2003; where he served as Secretary from 2001-2003.

Mr. Kalis most recently served as Chairman of PMMC’s Board of Trustees from July, 2003 – November, 2007 and was instrumental during the transition from non-profit to for-profit hospital status in 2003. “Howard’s leadership and insight will be missed, he has been a tremendous asset to Pottstown Memorial Medical Center, we owe him a debt of gratitude, and wish him well,” said Steve MacLauchlan, CEO.

PMMC Welcomes to the Board of Trustees:

Kennedy Sbat, DO, has joined the Board of Trustees. Dr. Sbat is a member of the active medical staff, and currently serves as Chairman of the Critical Care Committee and Medical Director of the Critical Care Unit. He is employed by Pottstown Medical Specialists, Inc.

Rakesh Baman, MD has joined the Board of Trustees. Dr. Baman is a member of the active medical staff, and currently serves as Chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine and is a Medical Staff representative to the Board.

Dave Megay, Esq. has joined the Board of Trustees. Mr. Megay is an Attorney with O’Donnelll, Weiss & Mattei, PC.
